Good product, but poorly keyed by Handlesets This is a very nice deadbolt. However, the free keying by Handesets.com was done incorrectly, causing the key to get stuck in the lock. I had purchase a re-keying kit to fix it. May 31, 2011

Nice looking, some flaws First: Be careful of your door thickness! If you are installing this on a thinner door (1-3/8") you will need to order a spacer #8297 (usually about $12). This deadbolt ONLY fits 1-3/4" thick doors without this spacer Secondly - if you install this on a door that is frequently used, people will have a tendency to hold the interior knob on the deadbolt while closing the door. Eventually the knob will pull out of the deadbolt (and come off in your hand). It is only press-fit into a splined sleeve inside the cover. It can be pressed back into place, but will keep becoming looser and looser over time. Other than these two flaws, the product works and looks very well. January 16, 2010
exactly as expected Great looking, Easy to install, works perfectly. I especially appreciated the ability to buy several units keyed identically. In my past experience Baldwin's shiny brass lasts for ever without requiring maintenance so I expect the same from these units May 22, 2009

Is there a Baldwin deadbolt without that has a smooth oval, no rib around the knob?

A. The Baldwin 8244, 8041, 8252, and 8254 all have smooth knobs on the interior side. Thank you for your question.

All my locks are baldwin. The deadbolt I am about to order should have the same key. How do I do that.

A. In order to have a new deadbolt keyed to your existing key, you'll need to take your current key to a locksmith and request a key code. This is a very easy procedure and doesn't cost much. Once we have the 5-digit key code, we can key it alike for you at no cost.
