This knob set locks/unlocks from the exterior by using the key and locks/unlocks from the interior using the turnbutton located on the knob.

Key it Yourself: Lock is rekeyable by using the included learn tool in less than 30 seconds without removing the lock from the door.
SmartKey cylinders also feature a stainless steel side locking bar, racks and pins for increased strength and security.

Worthless I bought five of these and four have of the five are messed up. When the handle is locked it stil turns about 1/8 of a turn.You can feel it slip inside. Called the manufacturer and was told they were defective but that she had never heard of such a thing. Yea right. June 28, 2011

Excellent Entry Knobset Installed nine of these handsets between two houses over the last two days. I really like the clean appearance and comfortable feel of this handleset. Feel really good also about the security provided by this model as well. The interior side of this handleset has concealed screws and the inner handle can be tricky to install if the ring on the back of the interior handle is not fully seated against its stop. Only had one handleset that was not seated properly and a quick push with a flat bladed screwdriver bit corrected the problem. Handlesets.com did an OUTSTANDING job of rekeying my locks at no charge - although the "Smart-key" feature is quite simple to perform if you desire to use it. July 6, 2010

Looks great I would definitely recommend this product to anyone. It was easy to install and it looks great. I would definitely recommend getting your locks from Handlesets.com as well. We replaced 9 locks and all of them were keyed the same and we received 7 keys so we have plenty of extras. The best part was I ordered the locks on a Monday, used their free shipping on orders over $199 and the locks arrived on Wednesday. The only thing that is a little odd about this product is that the interior knob is slightly smaller than the exterior knob. April 29, 2010

How do I change from right-handed to left-handed door opening?

A. This can be installed either right-handed or left-handed. The latch just needs to be turned 180 degrees.

Is this set keyed from both sides?

A. The 740H-S is keyed on one side only.

What is the depth of the out side handle? I presently have a screen door which barely gives me enough room until the handle hits the screen door frame.

A. The Kwikset 740H-S extend 2.75 inches from the door.

How can we get all locks, including entry doors and deadbolts keyed alike? I am assuming that the smart key locks all come with different keys, so I am presuming that we would have to have duplicates made to match the one chosen, right?

A. You can get all the keyed items keyed alike. You will need to select keyed alike for each keyed item. You will get two keys per key code. The smart keys will be able to be re keyed using the smart key tool, but if you choose keyed alike they will come already keyed to the same key code.
